The Best Christmas Ever
We have looked at Peter for several weeks and the major events in his life. Likewise, we too have significant people and seasons that shaped our lives and impacted our faith.
But one common denominator that seems to be behind them all is this: the realization that somehow God is with us. That realization was very personal for the shepherds in Bethlehem! The angels announced “the Messiah is born” and that one fact made EVERYTHING different! The shepherds were beside themselves rushing to find a newborn in a manger! And finding Him was confirmation of the gift – Immanuel, God IS with us. Finding Him was the Best Christmas Ever!
Do you remember when you found Jesus? Were you filled with joy? I recall soon after finding Him my brothers and I were driving down the highway singing to the top of our lungs – “Power in the Blood.” It wasn’t anything like the Gaither trio and anyone hearing us probably thought we had been drinking. True, we were high – but on a different kind of Spirit. God was with us!
What did the shepherds do when they found Jesus? They couldn’t wait to tell somebody! And THAT is the Best Christmas Ever, both for us AND for others as we share the greatest gift. For many Christians today, we need to reclaim the Joy! Let’s reflect on How and When Jesus first came to us and how He has been faithful since! Next, find a way to share it, sing it, tell it! As our Immanuel, He has the power to refresh our souls; and He will, if we ask. Then however that realization may come to you, that is the Best Christmas Ever! Immanuel! Hold onto it! iOi
