A few yrs ago, the USA embarked on a mission to become energy independent.  We probably could have done it sooner than we did – except for ONE HUGE OBSTACLE – Inertia!! It’s an enemy of Fulfilling Your Purpose! It’s why some people in summertime step out on a diving board, but don’t take the next step!

It’s easier to maintain status quo! It’s a tendency in everyone and every organization to stay the same, do nothing and take no risks. Inertia is a real problem for many Christians too! It takes energy to improve, and there’s a certain level of safety and comfortability in staying the same. The problem is — we are Made to GROW… (and growing requires change). 

         Question — Can you spot the inertia in your Christian life? 

Is it TV? Anxiety, fear of the unknown? The pleasure of comfortability? Is determination and ‘follow through’ hard for you? Here’s what I know: Whatever is the issue, IF you can IDENTIFY it, you can overcome it by the power of “Christ in you, the Hope of glory!”

For me, there’s a natural resistance to things I don’t understand or don’t like to do; there’s a resistance when something requires a change of plans, direction, etc. If this is you too, then ‘Welcome to the Club!’

But, every one who is born again instinctively knows Jesus didn’t save us to KEEP us the way He found us! No, His purpose for you and me is much grander than that! And lest any of us feel we are ‘Home’ take note it was at the END of Paul’s life that he wrote 2 Tim 4:6-8 “The glorious fight that God gave me I have fought. The course set for me I have finished, and I have kept the faith. The future for me holds the crown of righteousness which God the true judge will give…” The Apostle overcame inertia! He fulfilled the purpose for which God created him! 

Brothers, sisters, even if you have made it ‘Home’, others are on first, second or 3rd (some of your family, your friends, maybe your kids, a neighbor or someone you work with) who are yet to make it ‘Home’. They need us to finish strong! Let’s rid ourselves of inertia – and everything that holds us back from the life we want, and the life God wants for us!  iOi
