To this point the groundwork has been laid for us. We understand alot about Energy – the need for it, what it can do and how to get it. But understanding is not enough. One thing more is necessary – a SPARK.
So pretend you are stranded on a lonely island. It’s chilly outside, the sun is setting and you want to stay warm, ward off predators and maybe even cook something to eat. You look and there are no matches! But in the emergency kit is a handful of powdered glass, some glue, cardboard and a small amount of red phosphorus. Now most people wouldn’t know this but again let’s suppose you know that with these elements you can make matches – and fire!!
But of what value is this knowledge alone – without ACTIVATION? And herein is the problem. Many people of faith are in this category. We know and have a form of faith, but we lack the ‘spark’ – the dynamite! 2 Tim 3:5 “Having a form of godliness, but denying the power (spark) thereof…”
Now here’s where things get a bit emotional, and personal. Take fitness for example. I want to be fit, but I also want that huge bowl of ice cream every night. We want the blessings of fitness, strength & mobility but we don’t like feeling the twinge or emptiness in the stomach when we go to bed.
Doesn’t this fairly represent the tension that is honestly at the core of everyday life? The tension we feel is the awareness of a back and forth battle in our inner being. Now many choices are amoral and don’t matter, like ice cream; but frankly, some of our choices (and habits) are ingrained and should be challenged. That’s where the friction comes in!
So something helpful to know is: FRICTION IS REQUIRED FOR THE SPARK TO IGNITE!
“And somewhere along my journey, it became an internalized, decided conviction that Jesus’ words were spoken not just for the disciples 2000 years ago, but for all who would receive them, including me!” It continues: “He means what He says, and His purpose for my life was grander than the mundane existence so prevalent among Christians with low level expectations.” The above quote is from the book, “UNLEASHING Spiritual Ambition.”
However, in some way common to us all, confronting personal whims, comforts, fears and desires threatens status quo. And ‘putting it on notice’ is the challenge we face! To overcome requires courage – a courage we rarely possess on our own. So THIS place of friction becomes the birthing room for a Spark to ignite; it’s the birthing room for the Activation of Energy! iOi
